Glassware is Everything!

The new glassware, mini shakers and olive skewers arrived in time for our delayed "Craft Night"!  Yipee!  I haven't been so excited about something in a long time.  The entire "Crate & Barrel" gifts were a huge success.  Each of the girls had their own drink, for Terrie-a "Perfect" Cosmo, MJ-Ginger ale and Cosmo mix, Lori & Barbara Each their own "What the Heck" Martini, with almond stuffed olives. Barb mixing.

We should have swapped!  I let mine get to hydrated!  ruined a perfectly served Martini.

The barware is terrific, the martini was cold & dirty to the very end.

Oh, what the heck, it's Sunday

We were so busy chatting and laughing on Saturday, we forgot to watch our movie.  So....we had a Sunday, early afternoon Martini.  We so rarley have a Martini on Sunday, it was a treat!   Barbara's turn.

The "What the Heck" Martini

4 shaker caps full Grey Goose
3 shaker caps full dirty olive juice
2 drops from the cap dry vermouth

2 handfuls ice cubes
skewer full of olives

Swirl, served in a chilled glass.

Twas the week before Fat Tuesday.....

Another attempt at the perfect Martini!  We're now trying to find a way to remember our Martini's based on the date.  Lori has made us a Saturday Martni offering:

Lori's Saturday Evening Martini

 1/4 of a strawfull (0.2" X 9.0") of Martini & Rossi Extra Dry Vermouth, 3.25 Jgs Boscoli Family Dirty Martini Olive Juice  & 4.5 Jgs Grey Goose Vodka, 2 ice cube crescents, give it a "Swoosh" and 12 stirs, pour gently into your mid size, frosted Martini Glass & 4 skwered "Weis Quality" stuffed Queen Spanish Olives.

Lock Haven PA Restaurants

Lunch today from the "Main Cheung".  Food was delivered, piping hot I might add, in a terrible snow storm.  I had the cheese won tons, yum!  and something I never tried before "Singapore Chow Mai Fun".  Spicy, thin rice noodle with chicken, pork & shrimp.  Very tasty and cooked well.  I can't think of any item from Main Cheung that I've had that I don't like.  Usually I get the Moo Shu Pork, plum sauce and extra pancakes.  It's always perfect.  The hubby likes General Tso's Chicken, deep fried!  Very good, too!

This is a nice place to eat, nice atmosphere and great, fast delivery or take out!

Barbara's Martini

Classic, Dirty Martini.  3 parts Grey Goose Vodka, 2 parts olive juice, waive the extra dry vermoth over the shaker.  Swirl with ice, pour into chilled glass with as many olives as you can get on the little plastic spear.  OH MY!  Velvet smooth, perfect taste, this is an 8 or 9 for certain and on a weeknight!  How lucky!  Too bad Lori is snowed in! 

Lock Haven PA Restaurants

Finding a good meal in a small town can be a challenge.  One of my personal favorite Lock Haven spots is the local OIP.  The classic Italian Sandwich Shop with a great Pizza or Dinner feel!  Nice atmosphere to eat in or take out.  All Subs are served on fresh baked bread with lots of yummy ingredients.  You can't go wrong, but eat in any deep fried item and make certain you ask for extra plates and napkins!  Otherwise, enjoy a great meal at a great price in down town Lock Haven.  No delvery, but easy pick up.

The Best Martini in the World

We're on a mission to drink the best martini in the world this year.  I'm pretty certain Lori will make the best martini in the world before the end of February 2010.  We found out on Friday that shaking a martini contributes to an over-hydrated drink.  We now swirl the vodka with the ice.  May I say it's a drink that one may describe as a religious experience.   With that said, a reader of this blog cam look forward to 2010 as the year they find the perfect martini, read the tarot and spend time with their best friend!  What fun!  So we begin with the martini of the day.
